My name is Cordelia Brazile and I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh’s History department. For my master’s thesis, I looked at the professionalization of youth soccer academies in the United States and England through an examination of changing formal educational practices. For my dissertation, I am beginning research into the gendered experience of collegiate soccer in the mid-twentieth-century.
I’m originally from the Boston area and did undergraduate work at Rice University. When not writing about sports, I can be found watching sports. In addition to soccer, I follow baseball, basketball, hockey, and ultimate frisbee with a borderline unhealthy obsession.
As of spring 2018, I hold a Graduate Student Assistantship at the University of Pittsburgh’s World History Center. Please see the “City of Champ-yinz” tab for more information about the project and links to the associated blog.
